Introducing Idem, a sensor-enabled hardware and smartphone application designed to simplify
complex tool and supplier combinations.
CHALLENGE
Factories, workshops, and construction sites are challenged with storing and
organizing hundreds of thousands of tools. The combination of high mix of tools and low
volume operation requires a lot of extra setup time if things go wrong on site.
RESULT
A system that helps users to optimize production through tool traceability, reduce cost and time, improve existing processes, and track quality assurance by reducing errors.
The Idem team came to us with decades of experience in CNC machining for some of the world’s leading factories. To help their customers save time and money, they wanted to offer an easier way to keep track of tools.
As an all-inclusive design house, we helped Idem to realize their vision. In teamwork, we created a close-range system for RFID tags setup and operated through an easy-to-use app.
Our partnership with Idem started out with a concept phase in the beginning of 2018. The first product version is scheduled to come online in 2019 for select customers. As a design house partner, we’re proud to have designed and developed the system, including hardware and software for Reader, Tag and App. Our world class labs and rapid prototyping facilities were key enablers for the rapid time to market.
